192.168.1.1 is the most commonly used IP address for all users with fixed Internet access.
It is mainly used to access and configure routers
Technically (for those who want more details), it is included in Class C IP addresses, allowing fewer than 254 addresses to be used.
In this article I will explain how to use this address to configure your router and WiFi access.
I will provide solutions to common IP 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 issues (depending on your access provider).
What is the address 192.168.1.1?
Your IP address allows you to provide administrative access to your router to manage your Internet connection and WiFi settings.
Administrator access allows you to change all options on the router.
These include network security and management options, LAN (wired network), WLAN (WiFi), port management, and so on.

To access your modem as an administrator, follow these steps:
- You need to enter http://192.168.1.1 (or http://192.168.0.1) in the browser address bar (this applies to almost all providers): 192.168.1.1
- The router interface is displayed immediately: 192.168.1.1
- Be careful not to write letters like “i” or “l” or “o” and also “192.168.ii” or “192.168.ll” or “192.168.oi”. These are just numbers!
Now enter your username and password: 192.168.1.1
It is important to know (in most cases) that each provider uses a different router.
So each router has a different username (login) and a different password for the others.
How to access different modems from each provider?
Each Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires a unique username and password for each router.
These parameters are fully optimized via the security interface in admin mode.

What is the difference between address 192.168.1.1 and address 192.168.0.1?
The two addresses http://192.168.1.1 and http://192.168.0.1 are actually on the same side
They can be used to start and set up a multi-machine network, including your modem.
However, some ISPs provide 192.168.0.0 addresses to their boxes, producing 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 addresses for devices on the same network.
By default, boxes 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 with the address 192.168.1.1 specify the devices associated with their network address.
Therefore, to simplify: the difference between the IP addresses used must fall from the default configuration set by the ISP, its separate modems, which is a fully customizable configuration.
You need to remember that to access your modem, you need to use address 192.168.1.1 in most cases and address 192.168.0.1 in some cases.
Most common problems and their solutions
How do I know the IP address of my modem?
You should know that there are many brands of modems, boxes, and routers.
And each brand implements its own initial values, including the primary IP address.
To know the address, here is the process:
- Make sure your modem is connected to your computer and powered on.
- Press the “Windows” and “R” keys simultaneously to display the runtime window, then enter the command “CMD“: cmd run
- The command prompt is displayed. Enter the “IPCONFIG” command to display all the features of your network: Modem address
- The IP address of your modem is the “Default Gateway” in the red image above.
My modem does not even have access to the correct IP address!
If the modem administrator interface has entered the correct IP address, here’s what you need to do:
- Try the reset first by restarting the modem.
- Please note that this is not a “reset“, but a simple restart due to the on / off button on the modem.
- If the problem persists, change your browser and restart your computer once again.
- If these quick fixes do not work, then you will have to reset your modem configuration, which will clear all your settings.
- Therefore, you need to contact the supplier’s technical staff or build your own modem using the criteria set out in the original agreement.
